The journey of the Montessori Community School goes back to October 2012 when we, Ramona and Tina, started a small Montessori playgroup for children under the age of 3.
After a very successful first year, we moved to new premises and started a bilingual Montessori Infant Community with 12 children aged from 14 months to 2 ½ years old.
The success of our Infant Community coupled with the persistent demand from parents to establish an authentic Montessori educational environment in line, inspired us to look for new premises that could cater to and offer a comprehensive Montessori academic program for children from the time they begin to walk, typically around 12 months, up to 6 years of age.
In 2016, after a seemingly endless search for new premises to house our new venture, we finally found the perfect property set on five beautiful acres of land in Likovrisi. Building renovations quickly commenced and we are now happy to house both infant community and children’s house learning environments.
On a personal level, we had both walked the same path, leaving our past professions to work with children.
Sharing the same beliefs and values, with regards to the quality of the learning environment of the child, at the earliest stages of life, Montessori education was the only choice for us, for its spirituality, its holistic approach and the trusting nature with which it surrounds the development of the human being.
Above all, we were drawn to it because in every child Montessori sees the adult of tomorrow.
We are joined by the burning desire to change things.
To change, first of all, what we had experienced or witnessed in our social surroundings, as children, that we later rejected in life.
How could have the experiences of our early years differently and adequately prepared us for life later on?
How do we prepare a child for a future we know nothing about?
Which are the physical, spiritual, emotional and social skills that we want our children to develop, preparing them for life?
How could we look at the child daily and imagine him or her as an adult?
We designed the present based on our vision for the future. We created a place for children to live, learn and grow freely, offering them what we regard as the ideal environment for the early years of life.
